The technological platform serving research & learning

OpenHub, as a technological platform of UCLouvain, collaborates with research teams and students to develop concrete solutions, provide advanced infrastructures, and offer an educational framework focused on innovation.

For the students

StudentLabs

Our flagship program: an intensive internship where students (Belgian and international) develop solutions for real companies.

Guided by our teams, they work in multidisciplinary groups, discover manufacturing, design thinking, and emerging technologies, all while addressing real-world issues..

The students leave with:

  • a real professional experience,
  • technical and methodological skills,
  • a direct application of their studies.

Innovation classes

We also teach a course at UCLouvain dedicated to the innovation process.

Students learn to apply a structured method (design thinking, rapid prototyping, user testing) on real cases provided each year by our partners.

Supervision of theses

We supervise theses for students who are looking for a field of experimentation, a topic related to technology, innovation, or prototyping, or an interdisciplinary work framework.

Access to infrastructure

Students can access our equipment through the internal UCLouvain platform to create, prototype, or support their academic projects..

Partnership for your scientific projects

We support research teams that wish to design demonstrators, instruments, or experimental devices.
When certain skills are lacking internally (development, electronics, mechanical manufacturing, IoT, XR, prototyping, ...) we can take charge of the design, implementation, and integration of these technical components.

A team strengthening for collaborative projects

Beyond occasional interventions, we also participate in research projects led by UCLouvain departments as a sustainable technology partner..

We then join the project team to contribute to:

  • the technical definition,
  • the implementation of the experimental system,
  • user validation,
  • the documentation or the dissemination of the demonstrator

with the aim of accelerating applied research and enabling researchers to focus on scientific value.
